After the drop of the
first Avengers Infinity War, we have been hearing several fan theories such as
Thor will be wielding a new weapon, Vision will die, Captain America/Steve
Rogers will take up the mantle of Nomad, and Tony Stark will sacrifice his life
to save the universe and more. However, we still have no clue on how many of
these theories will come to fruition in the movie.
Nevertheless, a recent
autograph signed by Sebastian Stan and Chris Evans to a fan hints that one of
these popular Infinity War movie theories might be actually true. In a recent
announcement, one of the directors of the third Avengers movie, Joe Russo talked
about the Nomad speculation about the character of Chris Evans
He said, “Our approach to
[Steve Rogers] was to deconstruct him, to take him in a different direction. Obviously
you can't deal with a character called Captain America without dealing with the
thematics behind that, so we wanted a relevancy to it and we wanted to put him
in a position where he was questioning the chain of command."
He continued, "You'll
see in these 'Avengers' films, he's on a very specific journey as a character.
Some people have suspected that he may be Nomad heading into 'Avengers 3' but I
wouldn't say that he is exactly Nomad, but he is the spirit of that character.”
The past of Captain
America that Joe Russo has been referring was actually a part of Captain America #180. In this
famous comic book issue, Steve Rogers/ Captain America become disillusioned
with the policies of the government, which in turn urged him to ditch his
familiar identify and costume to become Nomad
The end of Captain America
Civil War gives us a clear indication that Cap is on the verge of become a
rogue agent. This is because he was unable to team up with Iron Man/ Tony Stark
who supported the government concerning the Sokovia Accords
Cap and a few more Marvel
Superheroes including Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Falcon, and Scarlett Witch
decided they will not sign the accord. The heroes who took the side of Captain
America will be most probably included in the fight against unknown forces in
the city of Black Panther, Wakanda. However, we will have to patiently wait for
the third installment of the Avengers movie to know more about Cap’s identity.
