Sebastian Stan Loves To Take Up the Mantle of Captain America

The upcoming Avengers movies, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 will bring a number of changes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it would possibly mark the final showdown of some of the iconic Marvel characters such as Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man. One of the most common fan theories surfacing around the internet suggest that the Steve Rogers might sacrifice his life during Avengers Infinity War to stop the Mad Titan, Thanos.

One of the most interesting things about this fan theory is that MCU fans claims that Bucky Barnes/ Winter Soldier will take up the mantle of Captain America after the demise of Steve Rogers. During an interview, Sebastian Stan who plays Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier was asked whether he would like to play Captain America in the MCU or not.

Stan said, “I mean, yeah I would love that one day, absolutely. I don't know when that day would be, and I just think...it would be a very different Captain America you know, you wouldn't be able to have the same Captain America as you have right now because he's a different guy. Again, there's this issue where we've got to get him to be trustworthy enough for them to give him that responsibility, you know, to fill those shoes, and those are hard shoes to fill. So I think it's possible, I really do, but it just has to make sense and we might need a little more time.”

We still have no clue or official confirmation on whether Bucky Barnes will suit up as Captain America or not but we know is that the contract of Chris Evans will end by the fourth Avengers movie. Therefore, there is a good possibility for someone else to take up the mantle of Captain America. Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon is also another possible candidate to take up the position of Captain America in the upcoming marvel movies.

However, as for now, it seems that Chris Evans is incredibly happy and he is very much enjoying his time with the shield. Chris Evans said, “No, it's wonderful. It's so nice. Sometimes I've played not so savory characters in the past and it's, you know, you got to be in a really nasty headspace and you can't help but take some of that home with you and it can feel like a little bit of a storm cloud."

He added, “But playing Cap, it's such a nice energy to try to encompass every day. You can't help but try and compare it to your own life and find kind of analogous circumstances where you can live up to the person you try to portray each day. No, its a blessing. I love it.” Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan will share screen once again in Avengers Infinity War, which is scheduled for a May 4th release.
