Black Panther Director Wanted Spider-Man Villain Kraven The Hunter

The King of Wakanda, Black Panther will finally make his highly anticipated solo debuted in a few days and this MCU film will set up Avengers Infinity War, which is rumoured to be the greatest Marvel superhero showdown ever. In a recent interview, the director of Black Panther, Ryan Coogler revealed a shocking statement that two iconic Marvel characters almost made their live action debut in his movie.

Ryan Coogler added that he had originally planned for the long time foe of Spider-Man, Kraven the hunter to appear in the solo outing of Black Panther. However, the executives from MCU and Marvel studious refused his suggestions because they had other plans for Kraven the hunter. This means that Kraven might appear in the sequel of Spider-Man Homecoming or in one of the future movies of Sony that comes after Tom Hardy’s Venom.

Ryan Coogler said, “Being a Marvel fan, you want to grab all the characters, you realise there’s contractual things. You don’t have that character. There was a Christopher Priest run that was pretty heavy, there’s a big scene where Panther’s fighting Kraven, Kraven the Hunter.”

He added, “I’ve always loved Kraven the Hunter in almost every iteration. So there was a moment – ‘Can I grab Kraven?’ – and they were ‘Nah, you don’t have Kraven.’ He was one where I thought ‘Oh, man.’ But I don’t even know if he would have worked in the movie we ended up with, this was the early days.”

It is pretty exciting to hear Ryan Coogler is a passionate Marvel comic book fan and he has a number of ideas to bring more Marvel characters to the screen. This might help us to see more characters that are related to Black Panther or other Marvel superheroes in the sequel of Black Panther, which is rumored to take place after the events of the upcoming Avengers movies, Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4.

Ryan Coogler also added that he had also wanted the Young Avenger, Eli Bradley aka Patriot to make an appearance in Black Panther. He said, “Crazy enough, for comic book fans, we toyed with the character Patriot for a little bit. Early on we were interested to get our hands on him, Joe [Robert Cole] and I, but that ended up going away so we could focus on Wakanda a little more.”
